This format is designed for those who think
they will win 2 out of 3 matches,
are looking for a cheap night out
and not reckoning on earning loads from their play.
8 players will play 3 matches each.
5 point matches throughout.
An Entry Fee is obligatory but will vary according to demand.
|
At the end of the tournament there
will be: |
| |
1 player on |
3 out of 3 |
– declared the winner and receives 5/8th of the Pool*. |
| |
3
players on |
2 out of 3 |
– not bad so they each get their entry fee back. |
| |
3
players on |
1 out of 3 |
– no prizes for them. |
| |
1 player on |
0 out of 3 |
– that’s just some folks lives! |
HENCE, UNLIKE MOST SWISS FORMATS, 3/4 OF THE ENTRANTS
HAVE AN INTEREST ALL THE WAY THROUGH

Certainly aim to win your first
match -
only 1 of the 4 that lose their first match will be getting their
entry fee back.
If you think you’re a “1 out of 3er” (will win 1 match and lose 2
matches)
this Swiss Tournament is a much better format than an Obligatory
Pool Knockout is for you -
perform to your expectations and instead of getting 1 match you’ll
get 3.
If you think you’re a “2 out of 3er” this is also a better format for
you than Knockout is.
If you perform to your expectations this 3 match Swiss Tournament
won’t cost you anything
and you’ll probably get 1 more match than you would have done in a
Knockout.
If you think you’re a “3 out of 3er” then a
Knockout Tournament
will give you a better return if you perform to your expectations.
1 last round match of this Swiss will be to settle 7th and 8th
place
but carries no hope of reaching the prize fund -
if both players wish the match may be left un-played and thus be
counted as a draw.
Should one player wish to play it the other player should do the
honourably thing and play it.
