TOURNAMENTS
Knockout (Normal Evening) Tournaments
Tournaments will be on demand
and vary in Entry Fees and Match Lengths.
In this way every player (usually about 40-50)
gets to play what
they want to play.
Most Tournaments are 8 Player Events.
This means they finish on time (by 11.00pm)
and if you are knocked out you can enter another Tournament
that will complete within time too.
We start the evenings with the now famous
Camden Auction
"Entry Fee Auction
Tournament."
If you want to be part of this you must be in-situ
in front of the T.D. desk by 7.00 pm
prompt.
(6.30 pm is a better time to arrive by.)
Telephone registrations cannot be accepted.
All Fees are strictly in Sterling cash only.
Players are offered entry to Jackpot 1:
An 8 Player
7 Pointer Minimum £100 Obligatory Pool
Tournament.
If there are more than 8 players (there usually are)
the Entry Fee is bided up until only 8 players
are willing to pay whatever the Entry Fee has gone up to.
Those 8 players then pay their Entry Fee,
their draw is made and off they go to play.
Those that drop out of the 1st Auction are then offered entry
into a Tournament that reflects what they were willing to pay
along with those that wish to play for £50.
This is Jackpot 2.
An 8 Player 7 Pointer £50 Obligatory Pool Tournament.
Again if there are more than 8 players
the Entry Fee is bided up until only 8 remain.
Those 8 players then pay their Entry Fee (cash only),
their draw is made and off they go to play.
Those that drop out of the 2nd Auction are then offered entry
into a Tournament that reflects what they were willing to pay
along with those that wish to play for £25.
This is Jackpot 3.
An 8 Player 7 Pointer £25 Obligatory Pool Tournament.
Again if there are more than 8 players
the Entry Fee is bided up until only 8 remain.
For these events, started by an Auction,
there is a 5% Auction charge.
Note on Clock Play:
All Tournaments of 7 pointers are subject to Clock Play.
This is in the interest of keeping the tournament on schedule,
not to make players play faster than is normal.
Clock play times are as follows:
15 seconds per move,
2 minutes time bank per point.
(I.E. a 7 point match is 15 secs per move, 14 mins time bank.)
Clock play will be by order of the T.D.
In our 8 player, 7 pointer Knockouts we anticipate
Round 1: 7.15pm - 8.30pm
Semi-Finals: 8.30pm - 9.45pm
Finals: 9.45pm - 11.00pm
This gives a 1 hour 15 minute window for each round
which should be and generally is ample.
If matches start behind schedule
you can expect them to be clock play matches.
Next we offer entry to a number of
8 Player 5 pointer £10 Obligatory Pool 100% Return Tournaments.
There are usually 2 or 3 of these up and running by 7.30 pm.
Next up is an
8 Player
5 pointer £5 Optional Pool 100% Return.
After that we run an
8 Player
3 Pointer £3 Optional Pool 100% Return.
Followed by an
8 player
1 Pointer £3 Optional Pool 100% Return.
All Tournaments (except the Auctioned Tournaments)
will feature a
come-back-in option
so that Players do not need to arrive bang on 7.00 p.m.
and can stop to eat or chat after a loss.
You may only play in 1 Tournament at a time.
All Players pay £5 on the first Tournament they enter.
All players should be playing Tournament Backgammon by 7.30 pm.
In the event of late running matches the T.D. has the right to
shorten any match
and / or put any match on a clock.
All Pool monies will be handed over at the start of Final Matches
-
it's up to Finalists if they do a deal.
