7th July 2009

48 Entries, 8 Tournaments, 35 Players, £1574 Prize Fund,
Edward Leighton wins Jackpot.

2 Swiss Tournaments, a £110 entry Jackpot, a £30er Jackpot too, 4 Mini-Jackpots and more bg lessons going on than you could shake a brush at made for a fairly regular Bg in Camden evening.

Edward Leighton stormed through his 1st and Semi-Final matches, waited a while and then won the Jackpot Final. Daniel Flesch further proved his credentials by winning Jackpot 2. Eric MacAlpine and Gary Brooker took the Swiss Tournaments, Danny Cohen, Paul Pfanner, Uli Koch and James Grenier took the Mini-Jackpots.

For me a wonderful part of the evening were the many in-promtu lessons that were happening. We had a good number of casual players walk in, sit down at a board and try to play. Within few minutes somebody or other would talk to them and soon advice was being proffered and willingly accepted.

Summary:

No long report I sorry to say (Mr Williams.) Mike is off to Monte Carlo in a few hours and there's a wagon to be packed before I can go. However I'll not be leaving Bg in London behind; there will be a number of Bg in Londoners in Monte and, for those who can't make it, there will be a blog of our trip too.
