4th November 2008

57 Entries, 11 Tournaments, 38 Players, £1216 Prize Fund,
Raj Jansari wins Jackpot.

A few days before our biggest gig of the year (Bg Live in London 2008) and I wondered what the turnout this evening would be. But I've given up trying to predict numbers so I just decided to wait and see. At 6.45pm it didn't look promising but by 7.30pm we had 32 players shaking and rolling and with a few late arrivals we would build to 38 players this evening.

In the 1st Tournament the entry fee went to £60 with just 8 players interested however there were some players that wanted the entry fee to be considerably higher. No problem - we ran an additional Optional Pool of £100 to accommodate them. 3 took up on this, all monies were paid and the draw was done - the 3 in the Optional Pool were all in the top half of the draw - ce la vie but this also shows the adaptability of the Camden Auction format.

A further 4 players took up on a £25 entry, another 8 had already started an 8 player Swiss, another 8 were in a £10 entry Knockout and 4 players kicked off a non-money play Tric Trac Tourno. With numbers looking as they were we elected to run 4 player Mini-Jackpots for the remaining tournaments of the evening which this kept things kicking on nicely with very few waits between matches.

A total of 11 Tournaments were played - 2 x 8 player knockouts, 7 x 4 player knockouts, 1 x 8 player Swiss and 1 x 5 player TTT. Winners were: Raj Jansari, Farzin, Rod Naghar, Pana, George K, Monica B, Martin Ba, Roxanna, Mike I, Graham R and Pat O'Mahony

Summary:

A good evening with a respectable turnout given there was a long weekend of backgammon going to happen in a few days time.
