WORLD GIANTS CHALLENGE QUIZ
www.usbgf.org
June 11,2011

There are a total of 16 positions. Players are given a total of 1 hour to complete the quiz. Any unanswered question will result in the maximum loss of points for that question.

Please have a pen and paper ready to write down your answers. Each answer should include the COMPLETE PLAY for each position. For example, in the sample position below, if you were to decide that the best play is to make your 2 point, you would write 8/2, 6/2 on the answer line. If you decided that the best play was to run the back checker and hit, you would write 24/14 on the answer line.

Note: be sure to take note of the score and the position of the cube as that may affect the answer. If no score is shown, it is a single-game or money game play. Also note that if the dice are Black, it’s Black to play, and if the dice are White, it’s White to play.

Scoring: Scoring will be based on the ExtremeGammon Rollout/Analysis. In the sample position, as you can see below, the best play is 24/14. If that was your answer, you would receive a score of 0 for this problem. If you answered 8/2, 6/2 you would receive a score of .019. If you answered 22/16, 13/9 you would receive a score of .300. Note that since only the top 4 plays are analyzed for this position, any play that is not listed will have the score of the worst play shown, or in this case, .300. The number of plays shown depends on the difficulty of the position. Your score for each problem will be recorded in the space provided by the person doing the grading. The score for each problem will be added and the person with the lowest total score for all problems will be the winner.

The lower the score, the better.
