Bg in London's Film Maker, Robin Schmidt,
wins The Bahamas Islands Film Challenge.

Hi everyone,
I promised I would let you know how it went last night and I'm
really chuffed to announce that I won the 14 Islands Film
Challenge last night. Judged by Bharat Nalluri (director of Spooks
and Hustle), Finola Dwyer (Producer of An Education) and Nik
Powell (head of the NFTS), the film beat thirteen other filmmakers
who went out to the Bahamas in February to shoot for two weeks. As
well as the grand prize of £14k it means I'm now an ambassador for
Canon and will be working with them to develop the next generation
of video cameras so that's fairly exciting given how quickly that
world is evolving at the moment. A massive thank you to everyone
who voted for the film, we didn't win the armchair critics prize
in the end, but with first prize in my pocket it's not so bad! I'm
going to take some time off now and start writing what I hope will
be my first feature film.
Thanks again for all your support, I'm sure there will be some
photos of me looking utterly gobsmacked on the
Challenge website today.
all the best

Hi,
As you may or may not know, a little earlier in the year the
Bahamas Tourist Office despatched myself and 13 other filmmakers
to the Bahamas to make a short film over the course of two weeks.
Well, the fruits of that labour are now on public display and I'd
love to have as many votes as possible to count towards the final
tally. I'm in with a genuine shot and you could make all the
difference. The film's only five minutes long so won't take up too
much of your time and my entry's a comedy musical number so it
ought to keep you entertained at least! You can sign in to watch
the film here: |

And if you're already signed up
then go straight to the action and please do vote for me if you
have time.
The awards ceremony is next Monday so it won't take long to find
out. If you have time please watch Jan Bedarz's film. He's a good
friend and has made a beautiful documentary about Ernest
Hemingway.
Many thanks, I'll let you know how it goes!
Thanks again
